About
I grew up in rural Indiana and attended Columbia University in New York City, where I earned a B.A. in English. After graduating, I moved to the Bay Area of Northern California, where I worked in the publishing business for a few years before going to Holy Names University and earning an M.A. in English.
As an instructor at Berkeley City College for over a decade, I taught numerous courses in composition, literature, and critical thinking. As a private tutor and writing coach, I have worked with writers of all ages and skill levels. In 2005, I worked as a professional reader for the College Board, scoring the essay portion of the new SAT.
